NewNiceMrMe
TS does indeed have some rather strange views at times; but personally I'm not for forcing people out of a community because their views differ from mine however frustrating I find them (within reason of course). This place thrives when opinions differ at times and the chat is a little fruity, if we all liked and said the same things it would be a very boring place indeed. My twopenneth.... I have no wish to see TwinSpark leave, nor do I think it is right to say someone should leave. We've been there before many years ago and it all got very unpleasant. However, I do understand why it would be said in a situation where nothing, even in the face of overwhelming facts, will change the view of someone (or in this case, even lead to them giving any ground whatsoever). I also think it needs to be said that this entire thread developed out of a member posting a video that I thought everyone would look at and think "what a nutter". In return for posting it, the member was subject to a personal attack. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there are times when you look at the content TwinSpark posts and think that is the one thing he doesn't give any respect to. I have had countless arguments over 10 years on here, and I rarely agree with everyone, but I do respect their right to opinion. I just get the impression he has no respect whatsoever for that right. That is always going to wind people up and lead to the type of post Garcon made. Edited June 30, 2014 by NewNiceMrMe

garcon magnifique
I agree with those saying that forcing someone out is a step too far, but I was being honest when I said that my advice was, at least in part, for his own good. I also entirely accept I'm just another member here with no more nor less influence than any other. Only mods and admins can actually ban people, and as we know the policy here, quite rightly, is only to do so as an absolute last resort. I have no problem with different opinions, what I do object to is when those opinions are expressed in such a way as to intentionally insult another member. And if that member is also a friend, I will defend him! Edited June 30, 2014 by garcon magnifique

c_j
If the insurance company knows about this, would that reduce the amount payable? Saw a car with 'blackbox' fitted the other day- I had to ask the driver about it- she said they listen in to whats going on in the car, track it, and there are tiny cameras inside too...tracks acceleration, fuel consumption too... a bit intrusive if you ask me... but she said she pays as little as £10 a month... patently
From tonight's drive home... A Citroen decides to overtake me while exiting a roundabout. Without being fully ahead of me, and without indicating, he half cuts across from lane 2 to lane 1 (where I am) thus putting himself in danger from me and from the oncoming traffic that he is is now obstructing. Clearly not a safe maneuvre. I take avoiding action, and hit the horn. Thanks to me avoiding him, we don't have an accident. He screeches to a halt, tyresmoke from the rears, gets out and walks towards me. I drop my driver's window. He starts ranting, obscenities flowing freely, and then abruptly stops when he sees the camera. Goes quiet. Gets back in his car. Drives off. (In such a hurry that he forgets his seatbelt...)

NewNiceMrMe
All Citroen drivers should be shot. I don't think it is unreasonable to say they're fecking stupid. I'm not in the mood for doubt today.

Arch
Wish id had a cam fitted to wifeys car when a left turning lorry caved in the rear pax door and continued on his merry way. Initial costs of £50 on each insurance policy + £250 damage excess. Took nearly 18 months before the case played out, they admitted liability and we finally got our money back. Lorry driver was eastern European, looked a bit like Stalin and was wearing a Citroën t-shirt.

shao_khan
With regard to the black box items - i'm just shopping around for insurance. Cheapest quote I got was £170, cheapest with a black box was £320 - it didn't mention discounts if I drive like a granddad or AIM driver or anything. Seemed a bit pointless to me. Ian_C
Anyone have one of these? Be interesting to see whether it's compromised at all (lens/resolution/quality) compared to a straight-up, same-priced dash cam? http://www.snooper.co.uk/snooper-dvr-3hd.html
