Remember guys, power isnt everything. Just look at the R32 beating the 130i and Audi s3 in auto/whatever. Lets hope the car is a cracker like the R32 and GTI, the name matters little.

OO I would be intrested in reading that. You know where the test was.

It doesn't say anything about the car. what I meant was if its going to arrive 'anywhere' by september then you'd have tought they would put it on the stand for the max 'halo' effect ?

I emailed the vw contact from the show website at 11pm last night and this was the 6am response ...

"There will be no Golf RSi on the Volkswagen Stand in Geneva.

Kind regards,"

So I would say it doesn't look too hopeful for seeing it this year .... but I could be wrong smile.gif

Quick question guys, not so long ago when I was considering an A3 s-line I seem to remember reading somewhere on the web that on an Audi you couldn't fit DSG and Quattro on 2 litre and below engines due to some kind of technical issue. Hence why no Quattro was available on a DSG 2L S-line as opposed to the manual version.

Does anybody know if this is the case? Could be relevant if VW release a 2L RSI as DSG may not be an option.

Forgive if I'm talking rubbish, but I did read/hear this somewhere!!

Sorry I should have been a bit clearer!! cool.gif

What I meant was that if they release the RSI/R36, you would think that it would be 4wd with all that BHP so if it's a 2L it might be manual only. Not a major issue, just wondered if anyone knew anything about this... 169144-ok.gif

But for everyone else:

Dude, do you mean why are there two threads with similar titles?

Well, simple answer is, they should really be the same thread. I've edited the titles so that is anyone were to search TSN for R36, they will also see info on the RSi, which is in theory going to be (if it does happen) the very same car, so all the info is relevant. Hence the preference to keeping thread titles within threads the same, as well as the preference to avoid repeat posts on the same topic.

Hope this clarifies.

Similar chat again from dealer today when I took the .:R in for servicing. Apparently the DP was invited over to Wolfsburg around a month ago and was told that a 300bhp R36 Golf was definitely in the running and should be with us in the 'near future'. I did slightly scoff at this was was reassured several times that this was going ahead. Not a huge amount of info re: MK5 or 6, but opinion seemed to be that it was the end of run mk5 all singing etc etc

another 2 cents me thinks

Yes, there was a big meeting in Germany, not so long ago, and I think where all this info has come from. My fleet contact has said the same 169144-ok.gif

The R32 is available with DSG with 250PS and 4WD, so there is no logical reason why a 280PS car wouldn't be, although there remain problems with the DSG 'box handling a big hike in torque - if you go for the AmD Stage 4 with an A3 3.2Q with DSG, it uses a different remap to the manual version to keep the torque cranked down.
