lottiefox
The MX-5 goes to its new home on Saturday - oddly to a guy who lives in Warwick so I hope I'll still see her! - got a decent price for it but I need to get a soot chucker of some variety for through the winter months with some creature comforts! Have loved the MX-5 to bits and may well get another one next summer for a few months!! If I had a garage and a few more readies I'd have stored this one. So no more of this.... What's coming next to the Fox fleet......
CarMad
Doh. Why change Lottie ? A friend of mine used to have an older MX5 like yours and it was great at anytime of the year. SO when is the Elise coming then and whats this about a diesel.
P_G
You have entirely too much money for your own good Lottie! (Want to lend me some?!) Seriously like Carmad I know someone with an MX-5 and they keep their's during the winter as well. He says there's nothing like roof down winter driving to invigorate the soul and senses. But deal's done now, how about a Fabia vRS?
Drewcam
Sad to say goodbye isn't it. Any ideas what sootchucker your getting ?
Soapsuds
i can vouch for winters in the MX - they are great...... mind you, ours did have air-con so steamy windows was never a problem. Great fun with the roof down in the snow going sideways everywhere........ you should have kept it...... soot chucker - HAVE YOU HEARD YOURSELF!!!! NewNiceMrMe
Everyone, with the slightest interest in motoring, should own an MX-5 at some point in their life. Its the one car I defy anyone not to like driving, especially in the summer!

m3dan
Elise! Elise! Elise! You need to read last months copy of classic and sports car, it has a 4 or 5 page review of Elise, Exige, etc. And basically the message is "you need to have one at some point in your life" You know you want to
Alastair_A3
I drove my neighbours 03 1.8i and i must say i wasnt very impressed. It felt pretty slow to me, my soot chucker felt alot faster. (obviously not comparing the 7 to it ) Plus i wasnt to keen on the handling either, i guess i had just been on a blat in the 7 Are the earlier ones better? Any driven the new 2.0 litre version? lottiefox
I've really really loved the MX-5 and may well get one again - but over the winter I really need something that is more comfortable, a mile muncher and probably has a few more safety features - I'll be doing some hefty trips across the UK and whilst the MX-5 is great with the roof down even when its cold for a spin, it ain't ideal on the M6 for 180 miles. In the heavy rain it mists up, feels noisy and cramped and stresses me out a little. Yes, I know Thorburn, I'm such a girl! Options: Golf GT TDi 130 circa 5Kish A3 TDi but coming in dearer and my budget is strained.... or maybe a different Audi Would love an Elise but my head says No.

m3dan
Alastair A3, Apparently the S2 versions aren't all that. The S1 is meant to be the one. But then I'm obviously biased! The handling is sublime on a S1 and with a few refinements, they're pretty rapid. It is true that they don't always feel as quick as they are (Noticed paticularly last weekend chasing bikes through the lanes, locking up and plenty of side ways action at 80+ when I thought I was doing 50ish! ) The seven certainly is a purposeful machine.... but you can drive an Elise every day, even in the rain (all beit, very carefully)
