Merlot
I remember going to Goodwood when I got my B5 S4 back in 98 - the brakes on the Audi Experience cars were cooked so quickly it amazed me.
Will22
[ QUOTE ] We actually had a Customer purchase a Silver B5 S4 when they first came out and a week later he saw it being ragged around a Track on some motoring programme. Needless to say he had no problems in returning it [/ QUOTE ] Same thing happened to my dad in 2002 when he bought his last S8. Had it about 2 months when there was a car program on and he seen 02 D 58 going around Mondello track with an S6 Car was given back to Audi and new car ordered, dad dieded before car was delivered hence the reason for a D2 S8 in Ireland with about 100 miles on it, what a shame, about the car
Maxyboy
when looking for a new car for my old man we rounded it down to a 320si... i found one at a bmw dealer in carlisle and when i seen the details it said press prepared, i asked if this meant it had been ragged around a track, the salesman replied he didnt know what "press prepared" meant and shouted over the dealer principle who denied this could have happened and said it was a bmw fleet car... i came home, clicked onto the 5th gear website and seen vicky butler henderson trying to get serious G's out of the very same car on a welsh hillside
RossG
LOL - and I was just nearly sold CAR's Golf GTI. Honestly, why do the manufacturers not just destroy these cars, or keep them as hacks. The way the press treat them must be awful, no matter what people say ... Merlot
They should really put cheap private plates on them for road tests etc and then revert to a normal plate for resale. Then no one would really know.

[/ QUOTE ] A bit like Porsche's 911GB plate, or Lambo's YEV1L - not that those would be that cheap I was talking to the sales guy that we bought the A3 off of, and they had sold the B5 RS4 that Plato drove on 5th gear - chap demanded his money back - also they'd sold the RS2 that was on the cover of Audi Driver in the air off of a hump back bridge or alike - apparently that owner thought it was great to own that car There's a guy from S.A. that's just posted over on 246, he has one of the launch B7 RS4's and the engine has just blown. I think that sums it up

Chrisg
But that RS2 is so well known, appears in loads of photo, magazines etc. How about that they may be really well looked after by extra well trained techies at Milton Keynes, they wouldn't want cars out at mags etc to fail..... Anyway I used to do that with my Grandmother's Morris 1100 on a humpback bridge near where she lived..
DuncS3
Yes, god forbid someone would actually drive the car as it was meant to be driven!
Ben
That's the one They may have been maintained well, but with engines being so sensitive to warm up/cool down, I doubt any of the press gave a toss. I know the Experience cars get hammered from cold, and get switched off hot
Calm Chris
PH is showing a couple of adverts for RS4 06's for a whisker over £45k, one has a very sensible 2.5k miles. There's enough on the 2nd hand market to get 2-5% trimmed of the sale price, depends on how keen the owners are to sell 5700 miles £45,995 21k miles, £45,
Oli
LHD RS4
Dave
I spoke with my mate at Carr's today, and that is the car i ordered and didn't take. Apparantly it is absolutely mint, the guy who owned it has moved to France to live.
CabGirl
[ QUOTE ] 21k miles, £45,600 [/ QUOTE ] Probably a fun 21,000 miles!
Tizzy
Stansted Audi (where I bought my S4 from) called today to try and entice me into an RS4 - offering extended test drives etc. - which is nice and I shall be taking them up on their offer. What was interesting was that when I asked about prices of used ones, the guy admitted that they'd sold one recently for c. £44K, but that it had had 4 owners - which kinda seems a lot on an 06 reg car? Dave
4 owners!!! You'd have to ask why.. that isn't normal for a car like that
ashleyadam
Four owners that is well excessive for a car almost a year old, must of had some serious testing out.
Tizzy
I'm guessing it was maybe either an Audi Experience car (did we ever get to the bottom of the are they allowed to sell them debate?) or perhaps more likely an Audi UK car that then became a dealer demo. They also told me that they are already getting some in as part-ex's for various alternatives, including S8's and of course R8's!
gizze
Not that weird for it to have 4 owners, is alot but easily doable, these cars often swap hands after 6 months, if the car was regitsered to Audi and then sold on straight away with no miles on it that is owner 1, he may have sold it on after a few weeks, alot of people did at the start, the second owner may have had it for 6 months, sold it on to someone else who kept it another 3 months and then someone else may have bought it and realised it wasn't for them. ashleyadam
Yeah and all those people testing the car out as it will be new to them.
pile
I think the running costs are kicking in for people as there are 8 pages on Autotrader. When do you think a £30000/£35000 RS4 will be available?
Woppum
A year and a half?
Tizzy
Well there's a left hooker on Autotrader now for £35K. Seems to be quite a few private sellers at c. £45K as well - probably people who've got a shock with the £7-10K first year depreciation. Thing is who'd buy off private when you can get one from an Audi Stealer for the same price? I think we'll see them at £40K A: After March 1st 07 plate's come out and also B: When the new M3 appears (whenever that is?)
ashleyadam
I think your maybe right there although I am still surprised how many are on the market. As it stands I have only heard good things about RS4 so I an quite surprised about the depreciation.
