I am thinking about buying a Z4 - Either the 2.2 or 2.5, but just had a few questions from current owners.

What is the road and wind noise like?? (roof closed)

Do wind deflectors come as standard??

Is it a comfortable ride for longish journeys??

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt

Faily quiet, considering the sort of car it is, upto about 100mph.

No

I find it excellent, trip to Le Mans last year and felt fresh as when we arrived.

However as I rencently found the rise is improved by ditching the run flat tyres.

i drove a Z4 the other day for the 1st time.

tbh i wasnt that impressed with the amount of wind buffetting with the hood down.

for me it ruined what had the potential to be a good car. (that was a car with wind deflector - so god alone knows how bad one without it is)

to put it into perspective i found it no better in this area than the old mk1 mx5 ive been using as a sunny day runaround recently and miles worse than a boxster

Thing is though, the Mark I is one of the best sports cars ever produced. A total classic and still the best drivers car that I have had the pleasure of owning, albeit almost 20 years ago now. A complete joy to own and drive.

Lack of power didn't matter, it just put a smile on your face ever single day. Well, until I rolled it.

i know just what you mean.

ive got one atm that i bought to sell on - and havent advertised it yet as im simply enjoying running around in it.

what i meant though is that the Z4 has no better refinement than a cheap an cheerful 20 yr old design mazda mx5. (and a lot less of the fun factor - though thats a whole different matter) whereas a boxster is a lot better refined (and in my experience a whole heap more fun)

My dealer has loaned me this for the next few days so will try and answer your questions.

It is very well insulated from wind noise with the lid up and also gives you 310ltrs of boot space.

Not sure if wind deflector is standard.

2.3i with the DCT-dual-clutch transmission gives silky smooth changes and is no slouch. The driving position and seats are excellent it would be a real pleasure to drive on a long journey.

Its +++ from me..:)

I can vouch for the new shape Z4, very quiet top up, a bit noiser with it down, but much better than my mk3 MX-5 before it.

Long journeys in mine are a pleasure and top up I can do some v fast speeds without really noticing how fast i'm going! Comfy smooth, powerful refined.

Mines for sale if you're interested too : 2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i FOR SALE

Or feel free to share if you know anyone who's considering something like this!

Cheers,

David

Re-read my post and wondering why I'm selling it : (

Don't.  They're shite.

Oh and you're a spammer I see?

Trying to hide that little anchor text of "bmw service" linking to that website in a thread about BMW eh?

Well let's see if we can help you shall we?

That won't stop others from providing him with links to the website though.

Come on, we need to help them out.  In the interest of charity and all that.

They're obviously so desperate for links that they've got someone adopting some of the most naive tactics I've seen in a long time AND doing so in a thread started 7 years ago....well that was clever wasn't it? :roflmao:

5 links per person.  Even 1-2 will help them out.

It would seem they won funding on Dragons Den too.   Obviously not enough.
