Maxyboy
Brilliant, well done. It's all been a bit quick though, what are you going to do on a Saturday night when the mrs is watching x factor now?
Milo
I love the childish laugh at 1:30 when you realise it works, and you've built it yourself It looks superb, well done

patently
Time to fit the sidescreens. This requires the hood to be on, so that they can be lined up. Time spent fitting sidescreens: 15 mins (est). Time spend putting brand new unstretched hood on without any prior experience: 45 mins. YouTube footage of the first time I have to do this in anger in a rainstorm: Priceless.
Mook
Hood? Sidescreens? You really aren't set up to be a Caterham driver are you Yeah, yeah, I know you'll be driving it to the track, but you don't get water in the cabin when you're driving along. It's just when you stop at traffic lights

patently
It's just when you stop at traffic lights Or when you leave it in the office car park during the day. Having built it in a few weeks, I'm not planning to spend long running it in

patently
It's gone now Caterham have collected it, to find out just how badly I've nailed it together and have a good laugh . Something they euphemistically call the "Post Build Check". Then they'll run it down to Gillingham test centre for an officially-appointed spannerman to find out just how badly I've nailed it together and have a good laugh. Something they euphemistically call the "Individual Vehicle Approval". Then they'll fill out the DVLA form called "Yes, I really do want to take this deathtrap that I have nailed together badly onto a public road" and get a numberplate for me. I've no idea how long this will take; the IVA appointment can take weeks to come through, I guess it takes a while to recover from the hilarity of the previous badly-nailed-together deathtrap that was presented for approval. To keep you going in the meantime, here's a pic of it being taken away: I'm bereft. I haven't got anything to do. Does anyone have something that needs bolting to something else, preferably with a bolt that needs to be inserted via an impossible-to-reach hole that doesn't quite line up with the other half? CarMad
Looks great, I bet you can't wait to get it back and take it for a spin. Why don't you look for self assembly trailers to take the car to and from tracks.
Booster
I can only imagine the sense of achievement that you must feel! I am chuffed to bits if something from ikea ends up looking like it is supposed to! Closest thing I have done to anything like that was that fecking big Lego technic car when I was about
