Rationalisation of current garage and disposal of most.

'Escape to Stockholm' trip from London.

West Coast of the US again, potentially to coincide with the Pebble Beach Concours D'elegance.

Learn to weld.

Rebuild high compression 2.4 911 engine - its time to get my own hands dirty.

Buy a (cheap) convertible again for the summer.

Hopefully a couple of trackdays, couple of adventures.

New driveway being laid as we speak which will make life much easier for my amateur spannering, which hopefully means the Subaru will get it's bonnet, wing and bumper replaced, then maybe sell it and buy something interesting to tinker with, no idea what though, some sort of modern classic though.

I've welded before, it's one of those skills that after being taught the initial technique, you can either do it, or you can't.

I fall into the can't category, I was absolutely hopeless, I properly fecked up the floor of someones Alfa 75 after I was let lose with a welder, and I've never touched one since!

The theory is really rather simple, in practice, it's not!

New car on the horizon ? Roadtrip ? Trackday ? Modifications or tweaks to your existing fleet ?

I've got a C5 to repair, how about you ?

NYE resolution is going to be to not buy any (new) cars in 2013...

I do have some big road trips planned towards the middle of the year in the Great White though not sure if they'll be photo-diaried.

Nothing exciting (one day the kids will grow up and i'll do something exciting), flog the Freelander in the spring for peanuts as it's about to fall apart (fancy a test subject for your welding Tipex? ) wifey is going to get a new car, 99.9% certain she'll go for a new Polo for no other reason than "she likes it" and it's a safe bet, been trying to talk her into trying a Swift Sport or a Fiesta, any other suggestions?

And like Tipex i've just had my drive done, I say drive it's really a hard standing as it's wide rather than long, removed a few feet of front garden and had what was there all ripped out and a very nice bit of block paving put down. If I ever see it in day light I might take a picture of it :)

New car arrives on New Year's Eve. So get that run in, then there will be a couple of driving weekends in Scotland during the first half of the year and a trip to the Hartz Mountains in the latter half. Highlight will be the family summer holiday to Italy, where the girls will jet2 and I will drive and meet them there. Ohh and lots of live Motorsport this year including some rallycross, which had fallen off my radar in recent years.

I can't see too much changing on the vehicle front.

Usage wise :

car - I'll try and use it more that the 3 year average of 4.5k miles <blush>

bike - a Nurburgring trip's already been discussed. Also following the 'Austria on an Austrian bike' long weekend, 2013 will include a 'Italy on an Italian' bike long weekend. A few camping/drunken weekend trips too.

(My browser won't let me edit my post. If a mod feel like deleting it, please do. +++ )

I'd like to be able to wash/vacuum my car at least once next year. I don't fancy my chances. :(

I look back on when I first got my Audi and how I used to wash/vacuum it every weekend and how often I do it now. I don't know who's sadder - young me or middle-aged me. ;)

I think I'm due a mid-life crysis and I find myself increasingly looking at motorcycles. Maybe this year, the year I turn 40...?

I miss my Landie and I miss the time when my wife had a Mini. A proper Mini. Probably not next year, but soon...

I keep putting off carrying out a couple of tasteful mods on the Z3, but once the wedding's out the way maybe it can happen in 2013.

Her car will need replacing very soon. It keeps warning us with various flashing warning lights and engine stutters, but at 109,000 miles (mostly 60mph motorway) I think he's had enough. Its replacement will have to be female friendly and used mainly for shopping, but I'd love something spicy. However, I think she'll insist on getting a classic Beetle. If I can find an "interesting" one, then that'll work as a compromise. Anyone have a Porsche-powered Beetle for sale?

I think my mid-life crisis will be a motorbike. Always denied by my mother when I was younger - "If you get a motorbike, I will kill you so that I don't have to worry about when you'll fall off and die". I've already told her what I'll buy with the inheritance she leaves me  Anyway, hopefully many years before all that happens, just getting over turning 30!
