Tipex
Problem I have with FB is that despite my switching off polling etc, it still bloody well does it. Poxy app. Nothing else does this. Tossers. Whereas on my iPhone 4s, I have exactly the opposite problem, the Facebook app will never poll for data, even though it's all switched on, it never updates or notifies me of anything unless the app is open and i'm using it. Andrew
My thinking was that for a snap shot, why feck about with filters. Proper camera has optical zoom which is what I'd want if I was taking a pic good enough to feck about with (if I knew how to do that). But of course I'm with you Mac, but for the reasons MrMe says. I think IOS7 does look good though, I even like the design of the icons. Oh, and as an aside, I kill the FB app by double tapping the centre button, holding down on the recently used logos and when they start to vibrate, kill it. Is that right? Mac
Way, WAY easier in 7. Just flip the app up to the top of the screen - gone.
shao_khan
I'm another disappointed in battery life, my new phone 5 (which isnt as brill as the sales man convinced me it was but thats another topic) and the battery just about goes a day, phone, txt email are main uses. Didnt realise facebook was a killer app, I probably should read more. I use the camera a lot but thats because I find my SLR painful to carry everywhere and not sure I would use a compact any more than I use the phone. I tend to take 1000's of pictures just in case I get one good one
Chick
I've only noticed recently my iPhone 5 battery life will not last me all day, it definitely used to but now I'm having to remember to use sparingly (ie no phone calls, ha ha)
NewNiceMrMe
I'm another disappointed in battery life, my new phone 5 (which isnt as brill as the sales man convinced me it was but thats another topic) Trust me, it's that bloody new Facebook update. They're being crucified for it. It was fine until the last update. Since then a developer in Germany has outed it. Basically, some of the changes they made to it are destroying the battery in hours. Mac
To give you an idea - this is my usage for today. I'm a fairly heavy user I think - loads of calls today. I don't listen to music on it while at my desk either, that's on my laptop. 38% after 5 hours usage and 11 hours standby isn't too shabby really. Chick
Facebook update timing is spot on, b*stards ..... Mac, why aren't I on your beta list .... I probably use FB the most during the day - is it cos I stole a post-it??
NewNiceMrMe
Oh yes, it's the update alright. The developer has lost his Facebook account too. Coincidentally.
Tipex
Can't say I've noticed any worse battery life on my 4s, does it affect that or just the 5? To be honest, the battery life is utterly awful on mine, it's been replaced twice but still isn't any good. As a comparison to Mac's usage stats above, my 10% battery warning flashed up a couple of hours ago, and I've not touched the phone since, just checked the stats and it says - Usage 2 Hours 19 Minutes Standby 15 Hours 43 Minutes On an average day I take it off charge when I get up around 7am, and with similar usage to the stats above it'll be giving me a 20% warning by about 4pm, if it could just last another couple hours I'd be happy as It'd not need boosting before I go to bed. burble
I've been using iOS 7 a few days and on the whole I think I like it. The new look took some getting used to and I'm still not sold on the white background in the folders. iMessage is very hit and miss now, sometimes received messages will sync onto my MBP and iPad but usually they don't. Messages I send from the MBP or iPad always appear on the iPhone though. When I receive a message I'll click on the Messages icon and it'll take me to the person that sent me the message but I have to scroll down to see it. Why? Surely it'd make sense for it to go to the bottom of the list and show the new message? I don't like the way the folders have changed. If you have more than 9 programs in a folder then you have to swipe to a second, third or whatever screen to see them, the same as you can have multiple pages to the home screen. I don't like that at all, it's a waste of screen space to not have more programs displayed on a single page within a folder. The Mail app is having some problems, it'll crash every time I try to file an email. I can delete but can't file. No biggie though. The Bluetooth icon near the battery indicator seems to randomly duplicate itself so it ends up showing the original icon plus one about 150% of the size of the original on top. Odd. Notifications going to my Pebble seem much more reliable as does caller ID on the Pebble. I need to see about installing the app that allows the 2 way communication but apparently it still works on iOS 7.
Mook
Still getting used to the look and feel of it, and there's a few bugs in it, which you'd expect in a public Beta. Aside from how it looks, couple of very good things in it - swipe up on the home screen to get airplane mode, wireless settings, do not disturb etc, as well as torch, clock, calc and camera. Nice touch. Camera is also a lot quicker to take pics on an iPhone 4. Frequently hangs while it's waiting to go back to the home screen, but like I say, it's a beta release. eldavo69
I like that in Safari how you can go back or forwards by swiping left and right. And that the unlock screen keypad is full screen - much easier.
Mook
Yes, Safari switching is very clever - click the bottom right icon and they all stack up as well - and then the scroll to a list
burble
I just noticed another minor thing, if you've got Visual Voicemail then the two lines of text that show the date and time the message was received overlap slightly. There's also a noticeable delay between pushing the voicemail icon and getting a list of your messages. It's nice to get contact pictures in the favourites tab of the Phone app.
NewNiceMrMe
Are you all registered as developers to be using iOS7? I'll wait for the fully tested version.
burble
I'm a registered developer as we have a couple of in house iOS applications at work. It's not at all difficult to run the beta if you want and you're not a developer. Something else I just noticed, the Phone app locked up and the phone needed a reboot. I've got a PIN set on my SIM but it didn't ask me for the PIN until I tried to make a call, previously it'd ask within a few seconds of the phone starting. Printing is a bit iffy. An email I printed a few weeks ago from my iPhone fitted on to 2 pages, now it's on 10 pages (using the same printer) as the text is huge. Can't see any way of adjusting that. Not sure if it's available on T-Mobile and Orange tarrifs but I've got it on EE. Nice to have it back.
Mook
What happened to swiping right on the home screen and getting the search option? I can't find the damned thing and use it a lot for making calls to whoever I want - never been a fan of the contact list.
m4ttm4son
They got rid of the search? Brilliant. Never used that. Hit the home button once. That also brings it up.
