I think this one is worthy of your R5 plate,

Tried to persuade my friend who was subject of my 'finance advice' thread to go for a VW Up!

For fcuks sake, stop. Just stop. No wonder 'your friend' didn't get back to you. She's probably getting new retinas and a fingerprint transplant to supplement her new passport.

Dave had a C5 RS6 when I joined, I think it might have gone to the first every Tyresmoke meet?!  Recognised the RS plate when Dave posted the piccy of his new toy.  +++

Received an invite to drive a C7 RS6 at an event in a fortnight, fingers crossed.  Still think the S6 is a bargain by comparison though!

It's not a dealer event. Membership of certain forums brings some benefits. As you've seen on here, Michelin invited TSN to tyre testing etc. Different things happen on different forums.

Audi gave me Oulton Park totally free for the TT-forum many years ago. They also used to bring cars (sometimes pre-release) to our annual meets.

As the person liaising between the Owners Club and Audi, I also got to drive the first 3.2 TT a few days before the magazines on the proviso I didn't bin it  +++ ("OE03 XHH" on 19/7/03 if anyone wants to check)

Audi are pretty good at supporting Audi forums and clubs.

I've waiting to hear if I'm going on the same event IanC referred to  . There's not too many places so fingers crossed.

Gone full circle Dave! Enjoy getting back into a S6!

Well remembered Paul.. My first ever Audi was an S6..

It must be 15 or so years, but I walked into a dealership wanting the first generation RS4.. they had sold out and were on allocation if you guys remember..

So the salesman said "why don't you go for an S6".. which is what i did.. had a silver S6 Saloon with a 4.2 l V8 putting out 340 bhp... loved that car.. back then 340bhp was a lot of power.

And here I am all those years on with another S6.. joyful!

One thing I picked up from this thread apart from the usual Ian C thing is Dave's daughter is 17!! Christ, I feel so old as I remember her from that 'gardening' thing many moons ago.

Enjoy the ride Dave and it's Fab +++

Cheers Tony.. good times!!.. I still remember the two phones  :roflmao:  +++

Oh if we're reminiscing after your old S6, here's some souvenirs from March 2002!!

You may need to look at some of them in full size to find it though  ;)

Oh and for the record it wasn't Dave driving it at Folembray when it was being overtaken  +++

The TT had only been out in France just a few months I think. So when the convoy of so many rolled through villages or parked in town squares they just came to a halt. A fab trip topped off with a Black Tie do in the Pommery Champagne house in Reims.

Wow!.. great pictures Paul.. have superb memories of that trip.. do they still do it? :) It was amazing to drive through France in a convoy of smart Audi's!!

Great to see the old beast too.. I wonder where she is now?.. Probably scrap :(

Funny about the overtaking.. I took a mate of mine who i still see regularly.. Mike.. he was terrified of pranging the S6!

That trip was the very first one Audi UK ever did. We were the guinea pigs and they pulled it off. The route guides, the treasure hunt, track day, evenings, etc and of course the good banter made it a great trip. I know they did a lot more but I don't know if they still do them like that. I think they focus more on things like Le Mans etc now.

One memory from our trip was the DJ in the Champagne House who was off his head had my table reeling. Playing two songs at the same time, big gaps, falling asleep etc  :roflmao:

Oh and we've still got the cork in the next of the Champagne bottle that my Mrs opened with a sabre  :)

Me & Mike still laugh about it now.. basically getting up with a hangover.. burning across beautiful sections of France.. and then getting pissed up again in the evening..

Didn't realise it was your wife that opening the champers!!.. what a good night that was :)

It's amazing how a fairly simple trip like that creates such good memories of good times :)
