NewNiceMrMe
That must be really useful in airport lounges and on trains. I don't know how I live without it In an airport I'd be typing on my iPad, not on my phone. The point being, when I do use the phone I use Siri for text. Besides, I could use it in lounges if I wanted to cos you just hop onto a WiFi hotspot. I seem to have 12,000 minutes left on those for reasons unknown to me (and I'm not ringing and ask them why because they'll probably drop them all!). There's WiFi on trains too remember...but my main point is I only use my phone for mail etc if I'm rushing somewhere and can't be bothered to get the iPad out. Busby
No, it was the steam coming out of your ears as you typed the FFS that did it. You seem well versed in misreading/misunderstanding what people say/type. Being angry is quite different to being incredulous to that fact!! Ah I see, so the part where you assumed I was someone who didn't like Apple products despite pointing out earlier that I owned a number of them was aimed at somebody else? Tipex
For me, the telling thing about iPhones, even if you only take the users on this site as an example, is that the people who are in the tech industry, the people who have access to the latest tech, use it harder and demand more of it than most of us ever would, nearly all seem to use iPhones, and they don't buy them because they are cool, nerds can never be cool, no matter what phone they have. Just like those of us who just want something simple to use (relative and personally subjective I know) that can do everything and more that we want or need, and satisfies people who just want to look cool. It's all things to all people, and I don't see any other phones or operating systems on the market that can do that, yet. iPhones dominance won't last forever, it'll be surpassed at some point, personally I think it wont be that long, maybe the next generation or two of phones. Turrican
Depends what you class as dominance, a single manufacturer or software. If software then android has 52% percent of US market compared to 33% for iphone. (I think these figures are based upon new contracts within a specific time period) Anyway you could say apple's dominance is over already.
Mac
For me, the telling thing about iPhones, even if you only take the users on this site as an example, is that the people who are in the tech industry, the people who have access to the latest tech, use it harder and demand more of it than most of us ever would, nearly all seem to use iPhones, and they don't buy them because they are cool, nerds can never be cool, no matter what phone they have. That's a very interesting point. Given what I do for a living I can pretty much take my pick of handsets - and I often do. Something new comes out and I'll pick it up and play with out of sheer technical curiousity, but my main phone has been an iPhone since the 3Gs I think. Had a first gen iPhone but never really used it seriously. It's interesting that this can be seen as some form of 'fanboyism' by some, and I kind of get it. From my perspective I've liked Apple's products for a while, but it's because of the product. I love technology, and if I thought there was better tech out there I'd be on that, I'm sure of it. On that front I suspect my next phone (Yes, next, even though I'm now just on an iPhone 5 ) will a WinMo 8 Lumia. The WinMo8 platform from what I've seen, bugs and all, is a fantastic phone environment. I'll go as far as to say it makes Apple's ios look very 2007 (It is really, hasn't changed much since then from a look/feel perspective). My phones and laptops get an absolute beasting. To give you an idea even my mobile data bill every month is in the region of 20-25Gb, that's more than most people's broadband usage. They have to perform otherwise I wouldn't use them. I've had less issues with Apple phones than any other mobile device I've ever owned, so I trust them the same way I trust my fridge to make stuff cold....They're almost appliances. Tech 'virtual' fights are always interesting, as you do get to see other's view on stuff - people have choices though don't they? Love what you use, don't hate what you don't. If you hate what you use you're entirely in the wrong space.

NewNiceMrMe
The End. I'm bored now and I suspect you are too. Right, now I have a question about the iPhone 5. Has anyone yet tried docking one with an adaptor into any common or garden sound-thingy device like a BOSE Sound-dock? And, has anyone got one working with the BMW iDrive interface bluetoothy wotsit thingy yet for music and calls? MrsMe can take an iPhone 5 upgrade now but I'm not going to do it if it's going to mean she'll kill me when it doesn't work in her car.

Andrew
What is it that works in your car Mac? Are you referring to Bluetooth or also the cable thing that plugs into both the USB and the Aux socket? MrMe's car is newer than ours and the integration is far better in his (hers) - he can just use his white cable into the USB.
