Mook
Mac, don't tell anyone, but I completely lost my S4 and my Legacy in the snow. Fortunately no damage done. Unlike my track toy and it's brief shag-in with the Armco at Combe...

Tipex
Most cars you see in ditches in the snow are 4WD. FACT. I wouldn't be at all surprised, overconfidence breeds stupidity. I've never got stuck in the snow in my Subaru, but then I've never got stuck in the snow in my Galaxy either, and I know which one stops quicker on snow and ice, and it doesn't have the weight of a 4wd system trying to keep it sliding.
Daz
My latest T5 Sportline with a few extras cost well North of £30K and that was with claiming the VAT back I know and I can't claim the vat back
Scotty
My mate who bought the S3 is going on about the grip etc etc I had to warn him that the traction he's getting only helps him go faster as I fear he's a classic case for being at risk of thinking that quattro makes a car defeat all known physical laws.. Yep, so far as I know, all cars have 4-wheel-braking even if they don't have 4-wheel-drive.
CarMad
When I had quattro I always felt the weight more in the braking especially in slippery conditions but that might also have been due to how under braked the car was. I don't think I've had a car that could get itself going so well but then not get rid of the speed and the SE spec didn't help either.

NewNiceMrMe
Panda 4x4's are remarkable. I've watched one of those go through stuff I'm sure nothing else would.
Scotty
Both the above are obviously on narrow tyres. Audi undoes a lot of the AWD benefit in snow by having most stock cars on 8J wide tyres! My 8.5J Dunlop Maxx tyres are crap (aka fun) in the snow. Tipex
I've seen a Panda 4x4, in that spec only the Italians got (so basic it had a hammock where the rear seat should be) with a wading snorkel on drive through water that almost reached the roof. I've no idea how the Italian electrics survived it, but somehow they did.

Wasn't even a 4x4 model.
E-bmw
The Italians would never have been that stupid as to drive a car with Italian electrics in the rain, never mind a flood!
Tipex
I was in Italy at the time, there is a hill climb event that runs past a mates house in the mountains, it's next to a river that was in flood and hence cut off, his mate drove through it in the Panda 4x4 to get tools across to the cars doing the hill climb, it was quite a sight. Mac
I had a Fiat 500 for a brief time while sorting out my old car - back when we had all that snow. It was an absolute HOOT to drive. I'm sure somewhere there must be some CCTV of someone having a lot of fun in Sainsbury's car park.

Absolutely he I had an absolute epic day ragging a Mk1 micra around the works car park in a couple of inches of snow, what a fabulous engine and box that car had Total shame about the replacement model which was a complete &n utter bag of sh1te
NewNiceMrMe
The only small car I've ever had masses of fun in was a Metro owned by an 18 year old brunette when I was 17. Parked in the middle of nowhere at 2am in the morning. Edited January 28, 2015 by NewNiceMrMe
Scotty
After crashing my first company car (Escort 1.4L), I was given a pool car "to calm me down". It was a Fiesta 1.0. That went around the roundabouts virtually flat out. Huge fun.

Tipex
All of the above in the snow. Plus Mook Jnr's Lupo SDI with a massive 60bhp Is it just me, or is that SDi engine ridiculously responsive? Far more so than you'd ever expect, or than it has any right to be! Stupid MPG too! Mook
60+ mpg out of a non-turbo diesel. It's OK if you keep it wound up, but at 60bhp, it doesn't set anything on fire.

Riz
I wonder if Audi can get the new RS3 to handle as well if not better than the Golf R. The Golf R has gone down extremely well in the press world
