Mook
What sort of older cars would you have on, Andrew? I took an Ur-Quattro on one of the 18-30 events last year. The last time I'd been in one was when they were new. OK, so it looked great, but it was a bit of a disappointment. Not that quick, horribly laggy, chocolate brakes. I'd have one, yes, but I'd need more power and would stick some proper brakes on it and sort the suspension so it didn't lean as much, so not really an original car. Not that I keep any of my cars as standard...
Andrew
Well it is exactly that sort of experience and feedback I'd have on the feature. A list to start: Vantages - 80s and 90s Testarossa (or the 512) RS2 Escort Cossie Diablo An older 911 The list goes on.
Rachel
I might have spent some time on the Lupine Tours website too, they ran the Chernobyl tour that they did - no surprises that it's a lot "safer" than the boys made out! This girl's travels have always stuck in my mind - it's good reading: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/chapter1.html or her newer site: http://www.kiddofspeed.com/
Andy_Bangle
I'd like to see a feature where they go over older cars. They have done it a bit but there is so much material there for a really good feature. And they can bemoan all they like about how we used to put up with such rubbish performance or lack of electric aids. I do love the programme though. Wouldn't that be an up market version of Wheeler Dealers?

May I seem to remember did a piece on the 80's Vantage, but at a guess you'd be going back to season 3 or 4 of Top Gear.
theduisbergkid
I've decided to stop moaning about TG and do something about it. Next week we'll publish a 10 minute video on Sporting Trials and the history of the Lotuses 1 to 6. Then a 15 minute video on the history of the Targa Florio. Then in May we're doing something special to remember Senna, then we're doing something boozy in Ireland with a Morgan, I'm not saying more as I don't want to let the cat out of the bag. There is something in France I'd love to do on vintage cars, two things in Italy (one which involves Ferrari, so is a long shot), and something in Eastern Europe with a hot Audi. There are other ideas kicking about too. Some of this is in the bag, some is WIP, some may never happen. I need to work on my presenting skills, I look hungover half the time, and am aware I sound like a Brummie. I tell you what, though, I'm ****ing loving doing all this
Andrew
Enjoyed this week - love that 6x6. Can't see the visual appeal of the Alfa though.
patently
I've decided to stop moaning about TG and do something about it. Looking forward to it. Even if you do sound like a Brummie and remind me of my youth in the Midlands...
M8CKN
I thought the Alfa was awful, but the Caterham and the 6x6 were brilliant

Calm Chris
Mays reaction when non protected in the Caterham was funny. He got caught by a bee, a fly or a bit of something kicked up, right on the face, I'd sort of forgotten how much that hurts
E-bmw
I remember, when I was a biker 1st time round, once riding along on a nice sunny day when a bee got stuck in the helmet right by my ear! Have you ever tried stopping and removing your (bike) helmet all at the same time? It seemed to me that I needed another 2 hands & the buzzing in my ear was adding quite a bit of urgency to the whole affair!
Rachel
I quite enjoyed this one. Those 6x6s in original (military) spec are mean machines. I loved the gratuitous police cars too.
drpellypo
Am I the only one that thought that Alfa was so unbelievably ugly and looked like a Reliant Scimitar? Edited February 24, 2014 by drpellypo
Tipex
It's more of an E-type crossed with a Fiat Coupe to me. Not particularly a fan of it's looks to be honest, i'd much rather have the 8C it's based on.
Mook
If I had £1.5M or whatever it was to spend on a car, I sure as sh*t wouldn't spend it on that thing. Looked really pretty and I know there must be a massive amount of work put into it, but sorry - too much money for that.
CarMad
Am I the only one that thought that Alfa was so unbelievably ugly and looked like a Reliant Scimitar? No I think it looked worse than the car it was based on personally.

E-bmw
Rather than essence of Fiat Coupe, I think the front end (especially from the 3/4 position) is VERY Fiat Barchetta.
fatcat
WTF has setting fire to a Pizza placed over RH's groin got to with anything remotely connected to a 'car entertainment' show. That along with witnessing the weekly Jeremy and Richard slapstick show and the truly interesting star in a car slot has finally signalled the shows death knell for me. Last nights performance was a new low in TG quality content. Utter tripe.
E-bmw
I have always thought the show falls slap bang in the middle of the "blokey-brain-out-entertainment" slot & for that I generally love it for what it is. Sure some more so than others, but I don't think it has ever made itself out to be anything other than a distraction for an hour.
